About
Automobile Engineering is a branch of engineering that deals with designing, manufacturing and operating automobiles. It incorporate elements of mechanical, electrical, software and safety engineering as applied to design and manufacture buses, bikes, trucks and other vehicles and machines.
The course in Automobile Engineering deals with the creation and maintenance of automobiles, starting from designing the vehicles to manufacturing components, assembling and testing them for safety.
Career
A career as an automobile engineer is for people who are driven and passionate about cars. They must have considerable understanding and interest in mechanics, electronics, and mathematics as these are vital skills required for this career path. Automobile engineers must be organized individuals who are able to work in a methodical manner.
People in this career are required to communicate with other professionals on a regular basis, both from within the field and outside it. Hence, this career is only for those with fluent communication skills. While automobile engineers must be innovative, eager workers, they must not get carried away.
Job Prospects
The industry offers many challenging and interesting roles to skilled professionals. Some of the common job roles include:
Designing, development and manufacturing of vehicles
Creating blueprint of vehicles and its components
Maintenance and Services Engineers in automobile workshops, aircraft industries, aviation, marine vessels, and diesel power stations.
Remuneration
The salary package of an engineer depends on many factors like size of the organization, profile, qualification, experience and company location (India or abroad).It also depends on your institute from where you have completed your engineering. Typically, students from IITs or NITs earn more than those graduated from a private college.
The salary for beginners is approximately Rs.15,000 – 20,000 per month. An experienced engineer can earn more than Rs.100,000 (approx.) per month.

Project Work
Candidates are required to submit a Referee / Project Report to complete the requirement of the Technician Membership Examination (TMIIE-DIPIIE-DMIIE).
A candidate of Technician Membership Examination (TMIIE-DIPIIE-DMIIE)can take up submission of his report only after he has obtained a pass in Part-I of TMIIE-DIPIIE-DMIIE Examination and only after he/she has appeared and obtained 40% marks in at least 5 subjects of Part-I of TMIIE-DIPIIE-DMIIE Examination.
Project Report / Referee Report
Each candidate appearing for Technician Membership Examination under the scheme of examination as approved by Govt. of India, is required to submit the Project Report in bound volumes.
Project Report detailed requirements and Project Report applications form is given in Institution website. The Project Report Application should be submitted with a fee.
Final pass Certificate will be issued only after Project Report is approved. Candidate is also required to pay certification fee and submit experience certificate for minimum period of 3½ years on employers letterhead.

Note: Academic Member needs to undertake Six months practical training from A.I.C.T.E or applicable Polytechnic/College.
